    Default Tweak UI

    Muwahahaha!!!!

    http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/fil...scription.html

I don't know why I didn't know about this before since it fixes so many of the things I HATE about XP.

    Turn off baloon notifications.

Stop apps from stealing focus (i.e.: typing in MS word and another app pops up requesting data and you are now typing in the app that popped up).

You can change a whole host of other things too.

I know it is a great little app. Here is a VBA script that will stick Tweak UI in your control panel

    That's cool too.

The download from PC world will install it as a program and list it in your start menu and add it to the add/remove programs list.

I think I will try your script and see if it still works since I installe it from pc world.

Yes Tweak UI is part or the Windows Power Toys Family and is often buried in microsoft's web site. Another good one I like is the Alt-Tab Replacement it give you a window of all your open programs when you do the Alt+Tab to cycle windows.

Yeah, I read about the alt-tab but figured I'd take my customization one step at a time. I can't have my computer crash on me.

    Talking Re: Tweak UI

one of my favorites is removing those stupid little shortcut arrows from the shortcuts on the desktop.

EVERYTHING on my desktop is a shortcut, and it just looks so much nicer without those silly little things ruining my colour scheme.

Hmm, I wouldn't have thought Tweak UI would run on Windows 7, but, after googling, I see it can be run in compatibility mode.

I haven't really done a mod like that myself, but, you could try some other apps to assist:
