I use autocad 2007. When I first open cad I get a 3d view in grey, rather then the the usual 2d view. I try doing options and change the color in Display. But I could not find a tap for the color of the view in 3d model.

Have you looked into workspaces?
There should also be some options for your color settings within the Options Dialog box.
If you have a technical question, please find the appropriate forum and ask it there.

Do you want to start in 2d or to change the background colour in 3d?
If you want to change to a 2d workspace, you can type WORKSPACE and select Settings.
Hi
Please note I have *moved* this thread from the AutoCAD Customization forum to this one, as I feel this particular forum is a more appropriate place for such a topic.

Sounds like you are using the drawing template acad3d.dwtOriginally Posted by sherflor
Try using the regular template acad.dwt instead

My boss was having this same problem on his computer. Even though the 2d template was in the template folder...it was defaulting to the 3d template. I finally MOVED the 3d template out of the template folder and left only the 2d template and PRESTO...AutoCAD now opens in 2d for him.Originally Posted by rkmcswain
Any ideas on why it would default to acad3d.dwt instead of acad.dwt??? It seems like you can only specify the directory of the templates in options and not the actual template file. I was about to use a startup switch to define the template...but this seemed to work.
2007 defaults to acad3d.dwt because Autodesk set it to install that way. (If you create a network deployment image, you can change the installation options to default to acad2d.) If you want a different template used on startup and on the QNEW command, you set it in Options>Files>Template Settings>Default Template File Name for QNEW. The regular NEW command (or picking New off the File menu ask you to select a template - you know which one to pick now.
You should also set the 2D workspace as default as mentioned above by Jaberwok.
