Default In place door family won't tag

    Hi All,

I created an in place door family as it works with a curved wall. The problem I am having now is that the door will not accept a door tag. I checked the properties and the door has a type mark and A Mark #. The door does not have a family or a type name which is perhaps the problem.
    Any Ideas?

    Thank you,

    Steve Shkolnik

I've had a similar problem in the past. It turned out that it was being tagged, but the tag was way out of my screen. Eventually I found it and moved it to the correct location.

    Thank you for your reply,

I've looked all over the screen - I undid the crop region and zoomed to fit and don't see the tag any where. All the other doors in the project tag fine but the In place family doors will not tag. Is there a way to turn the "in place family door" into a family door so that it will have a name and type?

I am guessing that the reason that the door will not generate a door tag is because it does not have a family name or type name.

    Thank you,

    Steve Shkolnik

You may want to check the family category to make sure that it is indeed a door.

If you edit the in place door family you can copy the geometry out and paste it into the family editor.
Because your door is in a curved wall and we don't have a template for a curved hosted door you may need to do this into a generic un-hosted family template first, and then change the category to be a door.

    Good luck.

    Thank you guys,

I couldn't figure out the problem and re-built the door as a curtain wall door panel system which solved the problem.
