    Default AEC Dimension chain order?

im stumped on an AEC Dimension problem. ive gotten my chains to display what i want, but 1/2 of them come in with the chains reversed -

chain 1 (closest to building): walls, windows, doors
    chain 2 (middle): overall walls
chain 3 (farthest out): total overall

on several occasions chain 3 is next to the building, and chain 1 is the farthest away. i cant quite figure out what causes them to reorder, or how to fix it.

Are your walls in the correct direction, ie. all have the same base line justification?

i think so. the dims at the top of the building (in the world ucs) came in correctly. when dimensioning the bottom of the building (still in world) they come in funny.

Can you post an example dwg and I'll take a look. It still sounds like its something to do with the wall justification.

here you go. ADT 2007 format. some xref's arent attached (stair tower in the middle, and the entry way - but the dims along the outside are there, and incorrect.

for trouble shooting - i selected Add AEC Dimension from the document pulldown menu, and selected all objects with a crossing window. the two side dimensions liked to come in at an angle (not sure how to correct that either), so to place them i selected Align and picked one of the vertical walls.

Sorry Chad, I've spent a bit of time trying to figure out whats up with your dwg but to no avail. One thing I do notice is the top and bottom dims have the triangle grips pointing in different directions but I can't figure out why.

I've imported your wall and AECdim styles into a blank drawing, drawn and dimensioned a few walls and everything works as it should do so I'm stumped on this one.

    thanks for trying.

question - when setting up Dim Styles, what is the display order of chains relative to geometry being dimensioned? i.e. - chain 1 is closest, chain 3 (highest number) is farthest, or is it the other way around?
