Default How do I cleanup two beams?

    Hi,

Must be a simple solution, but can't find it.

Made 2 beams from 'RHS-Rectangular Hollow section', but how do I set automatic cleanup?

    Thanks

    Ok,

So I figured out you have to set 'Structural material type' to 'Concrete' in 'Family Category and Parameters'. The Beams will cleanup now.

    Next question:
What's the use of using an imported profile instead of sketched lines in such a family, if you can't use the 'Family types' of the imported profiles. I expected you could 'dynamically' replace the profile of the sweep when the family is imported. Now it seems, I have to sketch the profile in the beam family itself instead of importing it, and make the family types in the original beam family. Is this true? If yes, importing profiles is pretty useless?

Thanks, and sorry for my ignorance, just started my first real building with revit, see attachment.

    ok,

I have rebuilt the beam family without an imported profile.

Now the next problem, see attached revit file:
I have drawn two beams. Above it is a wall, of which the profile is adjusted, the wall is not supposed to be at the same level as the beams in this part of the plan. Now the problem: when I move the intersection point of the two beams to close to the projection of the wall, the beams want to attach to the wall and they do not cleanup correct anymore.

Question: how do I detach the beams from the wall, or otherwise, how do I setup the beams not to attach automatically to this wall.

    Thanks,

    Ivan

Another update of the same problem,

Same problem as mentioned in my original request, but now with curtain wall, please see my attached file (error3.rvt): I am trying to move the curtain wall in the 3rd floor plan(the curtain wall that is horizontal in floor plan) 90mm up in floor plan, but it gives me an error message about constraints and deletes the curtain wall panels on the right side. There is something going on with constraints / cleanups / snaps, but don't know what. Please help me with this one, how do I make these curtain wall (and beams in the former post) independent from the other geometry!!! I can't finish my project!

    Thanks, Ivan

    ok,

    got an answer from autodesk:

the problem with the beams is an error in revit, they adviced me to split the wall above the beams and draw a 'regular wall' above them.

The problem with the curtain wall: select the right endpoint of the cw, than right click 'disallow joint', then move the cw.
