    Default Locked DWL

I have a user who is repeatedly coming up with locked drawings which cannot be accessed, not even read only. Attempts to open read only generate a sharing violation message.

There is a DWL file associated with the drawing, but the DWG file is not open on anyones' machines. The DWL cannot be deleted & also says the drawing is open when the attempt is made to delete it.

I don't know if this is relevant, but when he opens other files he gets the message "invalid project information file: \\...\filename.apj"

The user is on ADT 2005, SP1. His supervisor is on ADT 2005 SP0

The only workaround I have discovered is to reboot the network server. That takes up an hour out of my day & makes everyone on the network unhappy. The DWL file cannot be deleted from the server otherwise.

Well I suggest getting everyone up to the current service packs first. That might fix the problem. PN was a little unstable with ADT05 came out. So they issues 2 service packs I believe. In other words, both of your products are kindo of out of date.

This won't fix the problem but may help delete the dwl file. Google "muCommander" I think it is a java explorer and a few of its functions are it will let you delete and access files that are not listed or accessible through windows explorer.

Have you tried moving the DWL files to another folder so that the program can't find them?

It seems the problem is caused by some network file sharing software on the company server going way flakey. The software won't release the open dwg file after the drawing is closed, and thus the dwl file cannot be deleted. The file sharing software must be stopped on the server and then restarted.

Anyone out there using Availl Server to share access to their server might be interested to know of this problem.

    Thanks to those who responded.

Very interesting. Just talked to a couple of their reps at AU today. I'll have to ask them about that.
