Default Custom flyouts in 2005 Palette

    Hello everyone,

I am trying to create my own flyouts for the tool palette. I was wondering if anyone has any information or examples of creating or manipulating the shape.atc. And how to implement it into the tool palette.

    Any help would be appriciated

    Thanks

    Vito

I could be mistaken, but I don't think flyouts other than the ones defined by Autodesk are possible yet for tool palettes.

I saw this in AUGI HotNews: Customization Corner - June 2004

Fly-out Tool (AutoCAD 2004 w/ Extension and up)
The Fly-out tool works in a similar fashion to a Fly-out on a Toolbar. It allows you to use a group of tools with common functionality that use the same entity properties like Color and Layer name. There is no way to build a custom Fly-out from the Tool Palette, but they can be created if you venture into the Shape.atc file. The Shape.atc file allows you to create custom Fly-outs with tools. Once you create the Fly-out in the Shape.atc file you have to manually assign it into the Palette file itself. This is not an easy task, but can be very rewarding if you do. I would imagine that there will be a way to create and assign a custom Fly-out in a future release of AutoCAD.

But there were no other details given. From what I can see in the shapes.atc, it is a lot of work just to create one custome fly-out.

Also note that one must have purchased the Tool Palette extensions
to even have access to this functionality.

I thought the extension was for 2004 only, isn't the functionality of the extension integrated into 2005.

Yes. AutoCAD 2005 incorporates the 2004 extension. Looks like I have some dumpster diving to do!
