Default Note Blocks and Note Symbols

I typically have been using Note blocks for Keynotes. Plan keynotes have circles, and demo notes are pentagons, etc. Is there a way to get the circle, pentagon, etc. to show up on the header of the Note Block, so as to indicate what type of note it is.

I know that this could be done with Drafting lines, but I have a feeling that Revit is better than that.

If not, then this is a National CAD Standard thing, and in my opinion, while each office has their own standards, many offices are moving toward this standard, and every effort should be made for Revit drawings to easily meet the NCS guidelines.

If I understand the question correctly, it sounds as if you are trying to display a Keynote Symbol with a Note Block (schedule). Currently Revit is unable to do this much to my dismay.

There are a couple methods you could try however and see which one best fits your practice.

    1. To keep things as Revit-likes as possible, you could use the Note Block (schedule) which will update and coordinate as you add your keynotes. To address the symbol issue, you could place the symbol into a symbols legend and locate it on your title sheet for every project.
    2. You could create a legend view. This will allow you to place symbols in conjunction with text. The legend views can also be placed onto multiple sheets. However, there is no live link between the keynote tag and the text (dumb stuff). This can become difficult to manage with large projects and it does not allow you the ease of use as the schedules.
I personally use and prefer method #1 because of ease of use.

Scott Davis had the best solution for this situation:

I have typically advocated drawing the symbol around the tag text of the schedule on the sheet with detail lines and copying or deleting them as the schedule gets longer or shorter.
