Default Elevation DWG created from a 3D Model not behaving when used as a Xref

I am having problems with a file of elevations that were taken from a 3D model that was flattened. If I xref the elevations into another file the elevations are perependicular to the plane of the file. If I xref other files into the elevation file, they are fine and appear parallel to the plane of the Elevations. How can I fix this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Check the current UCS of each drawing you are inserting files into.

As elaboration to scott's post, Most probably, the elevation was flattened along a 'Front UCS', if it's a front elevation, etc etc for other views if its not. And maybe you are inserting it as xref in the World Coordinate System on which Front UCS's Plane is absolutely perpendicular. To solve this, you can copy the elevation while front UCS is active and paste it in a new drawing; or rotate3D the Elevation by 90deg along x-axis (for front view-depending on the view) so the objects will be parallel to WCS Plane.
