Why is everything cheaper in the US

I thought prices varied between resellers, in fact I'm almost sure they do in the UK, is it different on your side of the pond?

The price above is straight from Autodesk and not through a reseller...I looked around in my area (Dallas, TX) and it seemed that the prices are pretty much fixed around here...
