Default ADT unable to use imported Layer key styles

I have a standard layer key style drawing that is imported during the drawing setup. Everything looks good, I go to my style manager and the layer key style appears to be imported but then when I go to add text or dimension or any adt object it does not put anything of the layers that I have set. Only fix so far has been to close out of the application and restart. Anyone have any ideas as to why by layer keys are not being recognized?

Hi lichu.chen (sorry I don't know your name)

Since you mention ADT in your post I'm assuming you are using ADT. What version?

My first question: Is your layer key the only one showing up in Format - Style Manager - Multi-Purpose Objects - Layer Key Styles? (Actually I guess that's my second question since I asked what version you were using)

If there are other layer keys listed you might try purging the other styles.

Next check the layer keys you have set up for various objects and confirm they are correct.

The confusing thing to me is you say when you close the application and reopen the drawing everything is working correctly.

Hope this helps but if not feel free to post more information or possibly an example drawing that exhibits the problems/issues you describe.

    Hi "lichu.chen"

Please note I have *moved* this thread from the CAD Standards forum to this one, as I feel this particular forum is a more appropriate place for such a topic.

    Thanks, Mike

It seems odd that closing and reopening the program causes the layer key to work.

Some other things to ask you:

Does this happen on multiple stations?
Does this happen on multiple drawings?

If yes to any of the above, then it most likely is a program issue. Do you have current service packs installed for ADT? I didn't catch which version you're running.

If no to the above 2 original questions, then I feel a repair of your installation of ADT is in order.

    Scott,
    Answer to your questions.

    We are using ADT2006.
There is only one layer key in the multi-purpose object and it is what I created.

    Steve,

Yes, this behavior happens at multiply stations.
Yes, this also happens in various dwgs. There is not pattern to any of this that I have found

I will attempt to repair the adt install and see how that goes.

    Thanks for all the input.
