Unhappy AutoCAD 2007 SP1 accessing the File pull-down menu causes CAD to crash every time

Anyone run into this? I have just loaded ACAD 2007 and the SP1. Now with any drawing that I have open, as soon as I hit the File button for the drop down I get "unhandled exception e06d7363h Exception at 7c812a5bh". Now I don't know what that means but it ain't good. Anyone smarter than me (about 95% of you) have any clue?

Angry Re: AutoCAD 2007 SP1 accessing the File pull-down menu causes CAD to crash every time

Tried everything that these two knowledge base speak of...no luck, still crashes. funny thing is that I don't even have to have a dwg. loaded. Wondering whether I should try a reinstall.

Yes, the subscription was just bought and I'm trying to get specifics from parent company. Seems like everyone's on vacation over there.

What exactly do you mean by the "File Button"? Is this a toolbar button or a pull-down menu?

    I don't have a file button, only a file pull-down menu.

Ok, the pull down for file...I really need to get to the eye doctor. That looked like a button all this time.

It sounds like it may be a problem with your CUI.

Are you using the default ACAD CUI that ships with AutoCAD or are you using a CUI from a previous version?

First I would try closing all drawings to get to a zero drawing state (gray screen). Then pick the file pull-down. If that works it is most likely the CUI.

You can copy the ACAD.CUI that ships with AutoCAD from the "C:\Program Files\AutoCAD 2007\UserDataCache\Support" folder and copy it to "C:\Documents and Settings\<login name>\Application Data\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2007\R17.0\enu\Support". Make sure you close AutoCAD before copying the file.

Note: I don't have vanilla AutoCAD, I am using LDT. So the paths above my be slightly different. I took my best guess as to what they would be for AutoCAD.

Default CUI. It even crashes with no dwg. loaded.

Ok, then if you can't figure it out, take advantage of your access to direct support from Autodesk ("Support Requests")
