    Default Viewport Scale Field

I am trying o create a field that will display the current viewport scale
    in my title block.

Since we plot our viewports at 1:1 the "PlotScale" field will not work.

I tried using Sheetset Placeholder and selecting Viewport Scale, but I only
get the word Viewport Scale in my title block not the scale.

I feel I must be doing something wrong in the placeholder set up but I can't figure
out what it is....any help will be appreciated

    Thanks

while i check what i have in my view title marker, can you clarify something?

don't you leave your titleblock at full scale, and set the vp scales accordingly?

one thing to remember w/ some fields, you have to leave them 'editable' or they won't work. don't have 'constant' checked (if you do) and see if that fixes it.

also, here's the progression in screenshots of what i have.

one thing i learned is that the translation can get screwy, so i just fixed it by using the 'Use scale name' setting for that field. it got weird when combining architectural & civil scaled views on the same sheet, and i solved it by going this route. it reads whatever you have set for your pulldown menu for scaling factors.

you can customize, reorganize, and add whatever scales you need in the 'Options' dialog box (i have 2006) under the 'User Preferences' tab.

    Thanks Chris,

It looks like I failed to set up the field from an Attribute. I will give it a try.

ah yes, from a block, fields need to be set into attributes. good luck!
