Default Any recommendation for AutoCAD Resellers

We have been using Carlson Software to purchase our Autocad software, and I am less than pleased with their service. I have recently bought an upgrade from Autocad (vanilla) 2006 to Map 3d 2006, and they cannot get me a registration key to save their lives. So I'm thinking about sending it back to them, and ordering it from another source. But, so as I dont get burned again on service, I was wondering what reseller you guys like to use?

    Any input would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Also, why not just get the registration key online, from, Autodesk? That always works for me.

Probably needs a valid serial number.

    We use Avatech Solutions.
When I in the midwest we used Ecad, Inc.

Yes, thats what I meant, serial #, not R. key. But anyway, just got off the phone with Carlson software, and they said that Autodesk has discontinued cross-grades from Autocad 2006 to Autodesk Map 3d 2006, so no '06 to '06, only '06 to '07.

Is this true...can it be true?? I mean come on, they are forcing me into '07. I can understand discontinuing versions before '04, but I got '06. This is ridiculous. Can anyone confirm this??

    Thanks

Yes, I agree. They are big. They came to our town by buying out a local reseller, who had who also happened to be good, but specialized more in printing sales and service. I have not taken advantage of global services they provide, but the local support has been excellent.

    A) The software should have been shipped with the serial number, period. No exceptions.
    B) The activation code is obtained from Autodesk, not Carlson.
    C) Who are you dealing with at Carlson? The main office in Maysville?

Take it from me, I've been there....

It's quite possible it was a demo that would have been shipped with no serial number; other than that, I agree.

By the way, Autodesk Resellers have a range in which they can sell their software. So even if you hear of a good reseller, they might not be in your area. Can you provide us with your location? It might allow us to give you better suggestions.

NOTE: This does not apply to Carlson. They are a UAR which means they can sell AutoCAD (and certain other products like Map) to anyone, anywhere**, as long as the purchase includes a Carlson product that relies on AutoCAD to operate (like SurvCADD, or whatever it's called now).

** (probably restricted to the US)
