Default urgent request for feedback on how your data changes

One of the proposed features for the upcoming Autodesk Design Review is DWF
    Compare.

    http://dwf.blogs.com/beyond_the_pape...eta_get_w.html

One thought is that the DWF Compare utility would compare geometry in the DWF file instead of pixels on its plotted output. It would look at the points that make up lines, polygons, etc. and determine if they have changed. This would detect structural changes independent of the page size used for plotting. What if the DWF Compare utility did not detect changes where the geometry stayed the same but only the style changed? This could be a line color, line pattern, or a polygon fill pattern. So if a line that was a gas line got changed to be a sewer line by merely having its line pattern changed, DWF Compare would not detect that. If an area of a backyard that was cement turned to grass by merely changing its hatch pattern, DWF Compare would not detect that. Are these fictitious examples?

Do you guys ever change the appearance of your data by simply changing its style?

Yes this happens but differently for different professions. In architecture / landscape we do it often when the changes are requested.

Maybe change detection can work at 2 levels in "Nile". Style related changes and other changes.
