I agree with John absolutely on this. Often it takes a break from what you are doing to be able to see the wood for the trees.Originally Posted by jaberwok
I have heard of studies that proclaim you get more done if you stop doing it for five minutes per hour. I go right along with that....
Its not just about when your thinking over designs. When Backdrafting or doing something tedious watch how you slow down as time goes on. A total break away from your desk for 5Min's fresh air (nicotine) and your back up and running at full speed. Some will think this is just an excuses but look how often you have breaks at training institutions.Originally Posted by carl_hd_collins
This actually fits in quite well with the original post, take a look at this from MIT, and this more extreme rest strategy.Originally Posted by McDonaldRi
You don't need to smoke to take a five minute breather!
Not sure about the 20 min nap time though. It would be like kindergarten. All get our blankets out and lie on the floor.Originally Posted by carl_hd_collins
Jguest stated the cost of the pen tablets you can pick up a good battery operated one very cheep I have a large format Trust at home and the small one here is a us-logic and only cost £20 2 years ago.
I did?.... .....oh, so I did!Originally Posted by McDonaldRi
Well, actually that particular price was for the 17 inch tablet and screen combination unit. Just a tablet without a screen built in is much, much cheaper. They start at less than AU$100 for the small ones, I think.

Its been very reliable to now and I cannot remember changing the battery in two years but I must have.
I bought one of those, and binned it two weeks later. Each to thier own I s'pose.Originally Posted by McDonaldRi
Does that slow down drafting time?Originally Posted by McDonaldRi
Initially yes. It probably took about about a week and a half of solid drafting to get used to it. I like Carl nearly threw it in the bin, but then the hand eye co-ordination thing kicked in.Originally Posted by Robert.Hall
I think my current set up is slightly faster than a mouse and standard keyboard. Unless I put the pen down somewhere or one of the magpie engineers walks off with it.
