Change workset of Linked RVT?

Bit of an odd one here, I have a linked rvt structural file, it was put in on the wrong workset, under the instance properties I can change the workset but that actually does nothing. The workset parameter in the type properties is what actually controls it, only problem is it will not allow me to change that. Only way I can see is to remove it and re-link it, which would lose all my visiblity settings...any ideas?

Hey, David! Nothing like a response 1 year and a half later!

I just had the same problem & came up with a Workaround.

The trick is that you have to make the Workset that the Link was originally placed on Editable.
Yes, the entire Workset, not just the Element.

Step-by-step:

1. Select the Link & go into Element Properties
2. Click the Edit/New button. Note on this screen the Workset (this will be the Workset the Link was originally placed on)
3. Cancel back out of these dialogs.
4. Go into the Workset Toolbar and make the Workset noted in step 2 Editable.
5. Select the Element again
6. Right-click and Make Element Editable
7. Go to the Element's Properties
8. On the first screen, change the Instance's Workset
9. Click Edit/New.
10. You should now be able to change the Link's Workset.
11. Don't forget to STC, because you have that entire Workset locked out now.

Gave me a chance to feel superior! I submitted this to Support & they didn't have an answer, either.

Wow I completely forgot about this haha...thanks Dave, such a simple solution I never thought about it.
