Default Windows Vista and compatibility with AutoCAD

I am thinking about purchasing a new computer with Widows Vista on it. I was wanting to know if anybody has been having problems with it. It is a new system and I do not want to make the purchase if AutoCAD is not compatible with it. Does anybody have any thoughts or ideas about it.

    Thanks in advance.

I only imagined there would be a performance hit, as Vista consumes a lot of computing resources and therefore would compete with CAD, which wants all the resources it can get.

However, based on the thread that Ruben posted, it looks like many Autodesk applications are just plain incompatible - they won't just run slowly, they won't run at all.

It will be only a matther of time that autodesk products will be fully compatible with vista.
And possibly the bechmarkreport earlier used the Direct3D settings instead of OpenGL. If i'm not mistaken - OpenGL is not standard support on Vista - have to install a plugin to activate.

That is not good. Isn't there quite a few applications using OpenGL that we
    are all using?

The thing is that OpenGL (as the word Open implies) makes it easier for developers to create cross platform applications. MS would like for all developers to use DirectX since then their programs are locked into Windows. Hence, in Vista they make you work harder if you choose to keep using OpenGL.

Where did you say you wanted to go today?
