Post Tapered structural beam - how to make it?

How do I go about to create a tapered wide flange beam [e.g. 18" high on one end and 6" on the other]? I'm not acquainted with family creation/changing yet, so if that's what I need to do first I think I already found a tutorial on that.

P.S.: The attached picture is a Sketchup screenshot where I manipulated the Revit beam.

yes using the family editor is supper important in revit. but you could create a blend that has the big size on one end and the small size on the other. this is faster and quicker then actually making a parametric family, but in the end, you will want to know how to make the family. And at that, once you understand the family editor, making this family is pretty easy.
