    Default Snap to Xref

I have an interesting situation. Using Vanilla AutoCAD 2007....

I XREF a Reflected Ceiling Plan into a new drawing and XCLIP the room I need.

I am trying to snap a line from an intersection of the ceiling grid to another point but the OSNAP's won't snap to the intersections. (Yes, Intersections is checked in the OSNAP settings)

When I open the XREF'd drawing I found the ceiling grid is an AEC Block?

Is there a way to get the snaps to work?

Regrettably the work-around is to explode the AEC Block in the XREF and then the snaps work... but alas this defeats the purpose of using a contractor's drawing as an XREF in the first place if I have to edit it.

    Any suggestions or solutions?

i could be wrong but doesnt the newer versions have this as a option under the drafting tab of options? snap to x-refs/blocks/hatches

Or was this a wish list item that never came about?

Did you try using the apparent intersection osnap?

Wow, that's nifty. I have that situation almost every day. APPINT always works for me though. Here's a thought though. Check the Z value for the line segments in question. Intersection snaps can go weird if either segment have a Z. Just a though. Post the drawing and XREF if all else fails.
