when placing a window next to a door, the soffit line above the window doesnt always display correctly, depending on how far from the door the window is placed. any thoughts on how to correct this, or why it displays this way?

It is displaying like that because you should really be using a door window assembly. Have a looky here for partial height door window assemblies. http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=22784
