Default Making a U-bolt block dynamic

    Hi all,

I almost got it all done except for the bent (both outside and inside arcs) that I'm having trouble with. I didn't even bother showing it. Basically what I want to do is be able to stretch it out based on the pipe diameter that I'll be using. The diameter of the u-bolt also varies.

Please open up the attached dwg to see what I mean.

    Thanks in advance,
    rb

for concentric arcs, you'll need to employ principles used in the block i submitted HERE. there's no trick available to do it in one step, but lookups will be what you want to use to keep your bolt dia. predictable.
Sometimes, i get lost in my own thoughts and need to ask directions to find my way back.

ok, i just looked at your block, and after you check out the block found within the link i provided earlier, here's my expanded recommendations.

when you get the 2 arc dia. parameters set up, move and make your d1 parameter to be stretched to stay with the arc end points. that way it will act as a control with the dia parameters instead of having to worry about it independantly.

your g parameter is already controlling the location of the nut & washers in it's stretch action. unless you need an adjustable extention of the bolt past the nuts, you don't need the a parameter and the associated move actions where you have them. NM, i just discovered the 2 nut vis state.... it works there.

is the d2 parameter needed? you could erase it and then re-attach those stretch actions to the d1 parameter.

one thing to note here wether it is or not, you don't need separate parameters for a different type/group of actions 'just because', you can have as many in quantity and types as you can fit attached to a single parameter.

see what you can do with the leads i've given you, and if you want some REALLY boring reading and info, check out the archived ATP143 from Sept. 2006...

    Hi,

I'm having trouble opening the file-says dwg file not valid. Do you mind saving it to a lower version. I'm only using AutoCAD 2006.

    Thanks
