Default Sheet Manager and Sheet Set Manager

Just as we suspected SSM doesn't work well with MAP.
And today after several days of 'playing' around with it,
turns out that Land Desktop doesn't or can't use Layer Keys!

I just have to wonder what are the programmers at AutoDesk thinking
when they incorporate various tools into the vertical products
that simply do not work within those products? This must make
for some interesting class room sessions where some instructor attempts
to apply or teach these elements to a class full of eager students
and they don't work as advertised.

I'll let you know in a few days if I have similar success attempting to apply
SSM to Sheet Manager within the Civil Design module of Land Desktop.
Let's just hope I don't become even crazier in the process!

Anyone have any comments on their experiments with these tools?

FWIW - We have been using SSM with Land Desktop and Land Enabled Map - just fine since SSM was introduced.

Is there a particular reason you resurrected this 3.5-year-old thread?

I'm not exactly sure what Michael was complaining about, but I'm pretty sure that Layer Keys still haven't been implemented in the Civil products... But then, I don't think they're in Vanilla, either, are they? I only hear the Archies talking about them.

We've been using the SSM, too, since the 2006 version, but it hasn't exactly been smooth sailing. There have been various version-dependent issues that have created trouble, but that we've generally managed to work around.

Currently (i.e., 2008 with most-recent SPs), we see three issues on a regular basis:

    1) There are issues with PUBLISHCOLLATE that may cause the Publish operation to fail when attempting to publish multiple copies of a multi-page sheet set.

    2) Some sheet sets do not automatically open when one of the drawings in the set is opened. We have been unable to determine any possible cause for this issue, and have not been able to fix it once it occurs.

    3) Copying layouts creates some sort of corruption in the layouts, so that various layouts may show up as "uninitialized" in the Publish dialog box. This is NOT the same issue as the one in 2) above. For this one, simply rearranging the order of the tabs will clear up the problem.

Oops, forgot which forum I was in...

The issue 2) in my previous post is one we've only seen with Civil-3D, and not with Land Desktop.

We have been using SSM with no problems from 2k6 through 2k8. Although I have had quite a number of questions. I do agree that it still needs work to make it as I would have it for LDT.

Not sure why Paul revived this thread.
