polar tracking

I just came across an odd thing...my polar tracking is not working properly, although it is switched on in AutoCad/ADT 2006. As soon as I draw a line and want to line up with a point/line/etc. the polar tracking (F10) switches off.
Does anybody knows, what I am doing wrong?

Are you turning off running osnaps? At least one running osnap needs to be on for polar tracking to work. If that is not the problem, how are you set up to acquire points? Check the Drafting tab of the Options dialog in the Alignment Point Acquisition area. My preference is to set it to "Shift to acquire", because I hate getting tracking points when I do not want any. But if you are expecting to get tracking points merely by moving the cursor near your target point, then you may prefer to have it set to "Automatic".

It was the Drafting tab of the Options dialog in the Alignment Point Acquisition area.
It was set to "Shift to acquire" - I change it to "Automatic".
