2D projection area

Hello!


I would like to find the area of a 2D projection of a 3D assembly. The solution which I'am thinking is to create 2D projection using SOLVIEW and SOLDRAW command and then to create regions. The problem is that it's a very complex assembly ( whit many holes of different shapes) and it will take me a lot of time to erase all entities which I would not need.
Do you know another way of solving this problem?

Unless Michael knows differently "ShrinkWrap" is a functionality of ADT

or

Some Third Party Tools offer such things for AutoCAD.

It's *not* a functionality of vanilla AutoCAD.

I have shrinkwrap in Land/MAP 2005
so I don't know if it is available 'only'
in the vertical products, and not regular
ACAD 2005.
