Default Void Extrusion to cut Mass Sweep Object

I have built a Mass Sweep object to represent a double sloping sidewalk. Now I need to remove part of the finished sweep object to conform to the building footprint.

I can not seem to get an extruded mass object to cut the sweep object - the sweep object is not selectable as an object to be cut.

It is not possible to cut the geometry of a Mass Sweep?

I'm assuming when you say mass sweep, you are creating it as an in-place massing object. If so, select your solid sweep, and select the edit button above. That will put you back into the mass editor, and there, the void will cut the sweep.
