Is it possible to prevent nested Xrefs from reloading automatically?

All the nested xrefs of a master drawing are reloading automaticaly when we open the drawing that references the master drawing. I would like to avoid this, is there a way to keep nested xrefs from reloading automaticaly?

what version are you on? I noticed that in 07 if the nested xref is loaded in the main xref, it will load in all drawings that the main xref is attached to, if the nested xref is unloaded in the main xref, it will be unloaded in all drawings that the main xref is attached to.
