Default How do you create a new Steel Beam Family?

I am trying to create a wide flange beam in Revit Structure 4. The top flange, bottom flange and the web are all individual steel plates. i have tried using the beam family templates to no avail.

    Any ideas or suggestions?

Don't use the templates...they won't work very well. What I do to create new structural beam families is open and edit an existing family, delete the current geometry and then add my own geometry. I don't know what your looking for exactly, but you could do the same thing, and edit the sweep profile to the desired shape. If you were looking for three individual steel plates then simply make 3 sweeps each with its own profile rather than one sweep with a complex profile.

    Hope this helps,
