Default AutoCAD 2006 - Unable to move Attribute Text via Grips

    Hi Everyone,

Firstly, I did a search and couldn't find anything specific to my question so my apologies if the answer exists and I didn't find it.

My question: A particular drawing I am working on had the attribute text grips displayed and I was able to re-position the attribute text independently of the block. I must have done something that caused the grip to disappear and now I have to move the attribute text using -ATTEDIT. Can anyone tell me which setting I need to change to get the grips back? Thanks!

    -Andrew

is the block dynamic? if so, the attributes may have their positions locked, which would remove the ability to relocate with the node.
Sometimes, i get lost in my own thoughts and need to ask directions to find my way back.

Ok..I have a bit more beta on my situation. I just realized that I had the drawing open in AutoCAD 2000 so I re-opened and the attribute grips are there. This is not the case when I open in the current version I am using which is 2006.

Chris, I am not sure if it's a dynamic block...how can I tell?

    Hi Andrew,

Also, if the attribute was created with the "Lock Position in Block" option checked in attdef, it will do that. You may need to explode the block, change the "Lock Position" property (under Misc in the properties palette) to No for the attribute, then redefine the block. I'm not sure if that option was avalilable in 2000 (I don't remember), so it may be what you are running into.

    Hi

If the Attribute Text does belong to a Dynamic Block, you may wish to take a look at the following...

ID: TP5567606 - Dynamic Block Attribute Locking

    Have a good one, Mike
