Default Oce TDS 600 and thinnest possible lineweight

Here is a question for you that I can't seem to get Oce' to answer:

What is the thinnest possible lineweight that you can print on an Oce' TDS 600?

Setting the lineweight to 0.00mm forces the device to print to it's thinnest possible setting. I've done experiments in the past and found that printing 0.00mm and 0.05mm seems to make no difference. So I removed 0.00 from the standard layers.

Now there are people in my office telling me that they have been able to print thinner in the past; to lineweights like 0.01mm and 0.02mm on the TDS 600. Am I missing something?

Is it even possible to make lineweights 0.01mm - 0.04mm available in the layer properties manager?

Default Re: Oce TDS 600 and thinnest possible lineweight

We have a TDS 800 and it is 0.005in.

We had a huge problem because we have a certain color assigned to plot 0.005in. and that was all fine, but when we printed 1/2 sized sets using Repro Desk, that particular lineweight would not hardly plot, it was only faintly visible (except on horizontal or vertical lines)

Turns out that Repro Desk was scaling all the lineweights (which is good), but it was scaling this down below the capabilities of the hardware. We edited the .PEN file that Repro Desk uses to never scale anything below 0.005in.

I'm not sure about the TDS600, but do you know how many DPI it plots?

The TDS800 is 400dpi. So 1 inch / 400 = 0.0025" which is half of 0.005". This explains why horizontal or vertical lines at this width were visible, but all other lines were not. (How many lines on a plan and profile are exactly horizontal or vertical...?)
