Default Linking AutoCAD Object data directly to Excel

Does anyone know of Cad software that links a rectangle or polygon to a spreadsheet such that when the area of the rectangle changes, the spreadsheet automatically updates with the new area?

    Thanks

with AutoCAD 2008, you might be able to use fields and table to do this, but I am not 100% sure...

With both ACA/ADT & Revit you can create the schedule in the program that is linked to the space and will update automatically. I believe that you can export the schedule to Excel and I don't know if you can link it in real time.

You can copy excel information to your clipboard and then edit/paste special inside CAD, check link, then paste it. Although if you document increases in size, length or width then it will appear wrong inside CAD. At this point you'll have to copy and repaste again. If the document if final before you paste the first time, this will not be an issue.

yes - my first guess would be fields and autocad tables as well - AC2008 has a few small extensions on tables, but think it should work in earlier versions as well - as long as you can insert a field into a table cell.
