autocad file cannot open

Hello,


I have dwg file that cannot open in autocad program.
One of my consultant uses draftsight ( revise drawing.
After he saved the file in draftsight he sent it to me.
I can open the file no problem. but after I save and close it, when I try to reopen it.
I cannot open it.
There is no error message and autocad program just shut down the window.


Can anyone know why this happen and how I can open it?

Sounds like the same problem as the OP in this thread had.
Read that thread for a possible solution.

Strange that both problems involved Draftsight.

If I run recover in 2014, there are 56 XDATA errors, and one bad block definition. But nothing displays, and the drawing does not actually open. TrueView 2014 fails compledtely.

Acad 2011 will open the drawing, and running AUDIT gives me the same errors as 2014 Recover, and then the drawing opens. (With alerts about newer objects). I can then save, and reopen the dwg.

This seems to have AEC content created by a vertical, and since those binary objects are undocumented, I suspect none of the workalikes can handle them.

Edit: even though I can re-open in 2011, 2014 fails w/o any messages. and attempting to XREF simply crashes.

FWIW -- purging the 1200+ RegApps gave me names like: Deleting registered application "回风口外接法兰宽".

Hmmm, seems like lot of work, and trial and error to get there.
Sounds like the built in AUDIT command needs some attention.
Too bad Adsk doesn't make a good standalone DWG auditing and repair tool.

Thank you for the advises.
last night, we fount another file that cannot open from autocad.
The only way make this work is open corrupted file at draftsight, select all and copy / paste to new blank dwg file.
Can anyone take a look "cannot open (2).dwg" & "cannot open.dwg" to know why this happen and how to prevent this?

Try opening the dwg in Draftsight and save as a 2010 format dwg. Then try opening in AutoCAD.
