Default Prevent AutoCAD 2008 from opening multiple sessions when DWG's opened from Explorer

Maybe the title is self explanatory, but here's the problem
I just got autocad 2008, and I prefer to open files from windows explorer instead of open in autocad. In my previous version of Autocad, 2007 LT, it would open all drawings in the same session. 2008 wants to open a new session each time. I went through The Autocad Help file, and i found mention of a system variable that should be set to 0, (the name escapes me) and it is.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated

Try this (I'm working from memory here) -
    open a Win explorer window.
pick the tabs - Folder Options and File Types.
scroll to the DWG entry and pick Advanced.
    pick Open and Edit.
make sure the Use DDE box is checked and that the DDE string is [open("%1")]

I think that will fix it.

in 2007 it is single drawing interface...the check box under options in 2008 is not there but you can change it by typeing "sdi" and setting it to 0

My AutoCAD is set for MDI and my explorer is set the way listed above. I can confirm only one instance of AutoCAD.

changing the setting for SDI does not seem to change anything at all.... i'm just starting to get the hang of it though, so maybe its not all that bad

Could it be you have TASKBAR turned on so it appears you have multiple sessions open when in fact it is only one?

Each "version" in the taskbar will have different files showing and open
