    Unhappy drwing 3d obects

    hi im trying to draw a 3d obect, how is this done?
    ive been selecting the object and entering a thickness but when i try checking it in an iso view it doesnt have depth, ie its still a flat object.
    am i doing something wrong or is my autocad 2002LT acting funny?

    Shawn,

    I'm not even sure LT does 3d,
    if it does use EXTRUDE to add 'thickness'
    otherwise you are only affecting the line wieght.

    LT doesn't do 3D.

    Actually LT does do some 3D. Check the help file for more information. The 3D LT does is not as powerful as the full version of AutoCAD, but it may do what you need.

    Below is a clip from the LT2004 help file:

    Thickness is a property of objects that simulates surfaces in AutoCAD LT.

    The thickness of an object is the distance that object is extruded, or extended, above or below its location in space. Positive thickness extrudes upward in the positive Z direction; negative thickness extrudes downward (negative Z). Zero (0) thickness means no extrusion. The Z direction is determined by the orientation of the UCS at the time the object was created. Objects with thickness can be shaded and can hide other objects behind them.

    Thickness changes the appearance of circles, lines, polylines (including spline-fit polylines, rectangles, polygons, boundaries, and donuts), arcs, 2D solids, and points. Modifying the thickness of other types of objects does not affect their appearance.

    You can set the thickness for new objects you create in AutoCAD LT with the THICKNESS system variable. Change the thickness of an existing object using the PROPERTIES command. AutoCAD LT applies the extrusion uniformly on an object: a single object cannot have different thicknesses for its various points.

    You may need to change the 3D viewpoint to see the effect of thickness on an object.

    ok then i guess my autocad 2002LT is acting funny, cuz i am managing to draw 3d objects :s
    the problem i was having was that i couldnt extrude a rectangular object, but if i draw out a rectangle using lines then i can. which i think is kinda retarded but oh well, guess thats how it works.
    i have another question though, i want to draw a ring with a round cross section, do any of you guys know how to do that?
