Default Change the text size for an individual dimension

I am trying to figure out how to change the text size for an individual dimension. If you double click the dimension and go to properties, text height, and change the value to something different, the text remains the same size. How can I make it change?

Question Re: Change the text size for an individual dimension

    Hi

How is the Text Style used in the DimStyle defined (set-up)?

Are Annotative properties set-up with the Text Style and_or DimStyle?

If possible please post an example DWG file...

    Have a good one, Mike

You might want to create a new dimension style just for this situation.
It may seem unnecessary work but, depending on circumstances, it could prove an advantage in the long run.

Attached is a simple dimstyle with textstyle dimtext. If you dbl click the dimension, and go to the properties window to change the text height to .25, nothing happens. i've run dim, update-still nothing. You can change mtext (annotative) this way, not sure why you can't change dimensions. Also, you change the text height this way for a non annotative dimension (top dimensions in example)

    Hi

The annotative Dimension object is behaving like it is, due to the Text Style used in the Dimension Style associated with that Dimension object.

Text Style: Dimtext (Paper Text Height = 0.1)

    Dimension Style: Style 1

If you set Text Style: Dimtext (Paper Text Height = 0), you will be able to update the Dimension Text Height via the Properties Palette (not recommend in my humble opinion).

Note, the top Dimension object in your example drawing file uses the Text Style: Standard (Paper Text Height = 0) and Dimension Style: Standard, that is why you are are able to change the Dimension Text Height via the Properties Palette.

The following might help explain some more...

ID: TS70785 - Cannot change text height

ID: TS33007 - Dimension text size does not change using DIMSCALE

    Have a good one, Mike

Thanks for the explanation Mike. In your opinion, why wouldn't you want to be able to update the dimension text height in the properties palette? Could it cause problems with other text?

    Hi

    No worries...

Personally I try my very! best not to override Dimension properties from their default values, as set in their Dimension Style.

    Have a good one, Mike
