    Default Ceiling Family Help

I was wondering why my family has such a large selection field. My mouse icon doesn't need to be near the object, and it will be selectable. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Jeff S.

Try the attached. I grabbed a bunch of the residual filled regions in your family (right click, select all instances) and deleted them. They appear to be left from an AutoCAD import. I then purged the family of everything. I think this fixed it by I did not test a bunch. Let me know if you still have problems and I will try again when I am not racing out the door on a Friday afternoon.

Not to sound like a total novis, but how do I go about that? I read the response, but am unable to select any of the residule filled reagions. Please help.

    Thanks,

We are all novices in one way or another. Check my really old posts and you will see how many seriously embarrassing neophyte questions I asked just a couple of years ago. I did not save your file and do not have Revit open so I am doing this from memory - just hope this helps.

Open your original family. From the Project Browser, expand Families, then expand Detail Items. You should see a bunch of filled regions with a dwg suffix followed by a bunch of numbers. Working only in the Browser, use the shift key to select all the filled region types except the last one. Right click and select Delete. As I recall, there is actually one filled region in the family so you may get a warning that you are about to delete something. I clicked OK since I could not determine where it was used anyway.

Once you have done all that, go to the file menu, select Purge Unused and purge everything. Groups, annotation, unused content included. I suspect your completed family will be a lot smaller.

    Smile Re: Ceiling Family Help

I'm gonna have to print this one out for my Revit binder. Why can't the last region be deleted?

    Thank you,

    Jeff S.

    Unhappy Re: Ceiling Family Help

Well I tried to clean out the Family and reload it into a dummy project. I still have the selection issue. I'm not sure what I've done to my family to make it act this way.

    Sad Parent,

    Jeff S.

Never mind I forgot a step. I'm such a newbie.
