Default AutoCAD training courses in the UK and their cost

Just been having a look at what training courses are out their and how much they cost. Here in the UK you can pay at least £250 a day for a course, I think thats crazy. Why is it so expensive?
I have downloaded all or most of the AUGI training program handouts and every website set up that has information or tip and tricks on which is a great help, but you cant beat being in a classroom so you can ask questions as you are learning.

    Thats my Rant over now...

I think you have to look at the quality of the teaching.
A city and guilds course done at night school is a lot cheaper but some of the teaching I've seen has been suspect. Others say It was at a high standard.

With Autodesk training centres they have to pass and maintain a high level to continue using their name. Combine that with a massive shortage of ATC I only know of 1 in the Manchester, Lancashire area the price will be high.

When you start looking at what you need, someone to ask questions to, a robot spouting from a script will be useless.

Ask the trainer for some references. Contact other people before taking the class.

AUGI did a UK Cad Camp not too long ago, if they decide to do another then it may be worth considering.

Last time out is was in Guildford (which isn't really London <shrug>) if that's anything to go by.
I'm hoping to attend this one after all its only an hour on the train for me in sunny Colchester.

The facilities at the venue of last years CAD camp were superb I thought. With this years event being over two days it should be of even more benefit than last year and I will certainly be going again.

Regarding £250 for a days training I cant see a problem with that cost. Any one in the industry would charge a client something in the region of £25-£40 per hour. Therefore 8 hours at this rate would be from £200 to £320. If you add onto this any costs such as the premises used if or travel expenses if they come to you and any computers/software then £250 really isn't expensive at all.

In fact, £250 is less than we pay our trainers currently by quite a bit per person. Although we have the benefit that they come to us and bring lap tops for everyone to use.
