Red face Import AutoCAD 2007 DWG into Maya

I have an AutoCad 2007 dwg.I tried to import my dwg into maya but I could not find the dwg. In Cad I can use my ucs to get around walls and place windows in exact locations. Can I do this with maya too?

What do you mean you could not find the dwg? If I go to either Import or Open on the File menu in the box that appears I find dwg listed in the flyout for types of files. You should be able to set the type of file to import and thn go browse for the dwg and import it without problem. Also, what version of Maya? I'm referencing 8.0.

There is snapping functions in Maya, but I'm uncertain as to their precision as I have not gotten that in depth with it yet.

Also, depending on the version of Maya you are using, you may not be able to read a 2007 autocad format drawing which might explain the problem.
