Default Maximum Family File Size Recommendation

    Hi All,
Can someone recommend a maximum file size for a Revit Family.

I thought I would be smart and nest 9 door panels into a door family but the file size is 1.25MB. I have a feeling someone once suggested keeping it under 500K. Is that correct?

    Thanks,
    Rob

I've found that size isn't really an issue (similar to project files). Lots of nested families within nested families can cause your family to act slow. And arrays are the real killer. But most often, the advantages of managing everything in one family outweigh the other setbacks, even if the family is a bit slow to react to changes in parameters.

    Thanks David.

This particular family is a little slow but it is very nice to be able to swap door panels without going through long lists of doors or loading them in from the library.

I will bear in mind your comments about arrays and the layering of nested families.
