Default Change the F1 function key to perform some other function

How do you change the "help" shortcut key command, f1, to something else. Or even just delete the shortcut all together. I would like replace this command with delete or erase. In doing this I would then be able to just hit f1 if I wanted to delete something.

Levi, what the heck are you doing in an Inventor forum? You'll get a response quicker if you post in an Autocad forum.

Have a look at THIS THREAD and see if it helps you out...There are other threads on this if you use the search facility, also.

Why not just hit the "Delete" key? It's the same size.
Although you can override it in acad, remember that F1=Help is a Windows function.

I keep my pointer finger on the escape key most of the time when im drafting. Its easier to hit the f1 key than it is to hit the delete key. I have had this configuration for some time now and i really like it. i highly suggest you try it.

The thread that Tim linked to should help you, especially if you follow the links within the thread.
I guess other people must use ESC a lot more than I do.

Nostalgia/trivia - early versions of acad did not use the ESC key in the same way; it was necessary to type ^c (just like in a macro).
Users complained because ESC to escape from a command was becoming standard usage in other programmes.

FWIW, I use escape all the time. I also still have help on my F1 key - there is a big enough gap between esc and F1 on my keyboard it just doesn't cause an problem for me. But, this does show that it is nice to have flexibility in how you set up your workstation

And turn the CapsLock off when hitting the F1 key while in the CUI.

That link, along with others, is included here

However, this is an old thread, and as far as I can tell, the OP has already solved his problem.
