    Angry AutoCAD Architecture 2008

Been using AutoCAD Architecture around a month or so now and I am not very happy with it so far. I have just having problem after problem with.

Is anyone else coming across the same problems as me.

We have sent it up here so we use all our lisp programmes which have been amended to use the annotation scales. Also started using the Dashboard and Dynamic Blocks which are great but here comes all the BUT'S!

When changing the Annotation Scale/VP Scale (cannonscale) it takes minutes to do. In fact I have just timed it 4minutes.

When adding dimension, drawing a line simple things like that AutoCAD just hangs for sometimes a few seconds and others a few minutes. When adding Hatching it will do it sometimes then others nope it will spit its dummy out.

The Annotation Scale list for some reason adds all the Xrefs Scales to it so I have to scroll through a big list to find the scale I want to use. It also changes the scale on the plot scale.

AutoCAD also crashes loads, AutoDesk must be sick of me filling the Error Report messages. I have contacted about loads of things which they have got back to me but they gets seam the solve the above problems.

Can anyone shed some light on the above.

P.S. Forgot to say if you have a few drawings open and you switch back onto another the part of the screen at the bottom is all black.

i would bet that the patch will take care of quite a few of the miscellaneous errors that are popping up. i have noticed the ridiculously long time it takes to change anno scales around, and after a while it can get pretty annoying.

My first thought would be hardware upgrades. Maybe adding more memory or a new graphics card would help. But, then again, I don't know what you have now. Also, I would definitely follow up on patches, hotfixes and service packs.

Cheers Joe just looked at the system requirements for AutoCAD Architecture.

    Intel® Pentium® 4 or AMD Athlon™ processor, 3 GHz or greater
Microsoft® Windows® XP (SP2 or later) or Vista™ operating system
    3 GB RAM
    3.1 GB free disk space
1280x1024 monitor and display adapter capable of 32-bit color
128 MB or greater, OpenGL®-capable workstation-class graphics card
    MS Mouse—compliant pointing device
Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 (SP1 or later)

It needs 3GB RAM my PC only has 1GB RAM so I think I will be having a word with the boss and getting it upgraded.

I would suggest staying away from vista. I believe that was one of the reasons you need 3 gigs. 2 gigs of Ram with a decent processor should work. Now if you can convince your boss to get you one of the new dual Quad Core Workstations........

you can throw money at it (RAM etc) but it wont fix it!

We have 64bit machines with 4GB of ram etc etc that can cope easily with some enormous Revit models, but then can take 10 minutes to change the annotation scale of a tiny AutoCAD file.

AUTOCAD IS DEAD! Get Revit (or other BIM software) and get some work done!
That's funny. I have the same computer setup. 64 bit with 4GB ram. I use ACA and do everything in 3D, plus renderings and details. ACA runs perfectly.

They built one for me with 2 quad cores and 16 gigs running on 64bit just to see what it could do. Works just fine for me. And wow dose that thing scream when the multi cores kick in.
