Is there such a utility/program available for batch binding of large nos of ACAD files? Or is there a way to do it in ACAD 2006 lite? Will appreciate any info offered. Thanks!

You can use ._eTransmit to do this. Just add the desired drawings, then edit the transmittal setup to:

• Transmittal package type = Folder (set of files)
• Transmittal file folder = location of the original files.
• Transmittal Options
  
  • Place all files in one folder
  • Bind external references (check this on)

We used Hurricane For Autocad which is a batch scripting utility. Basically you can set up a batch run to do just about anything that you do repetitively to any number of drawings. On their forum there was a description on how to do a batch Bind as well as a command to detach any unloaded xreferences. We had to bind about 600 sheets once and we let it run over night. In the morning it was done!
