    Default dual monitors and revit.

so im working with revit and a dual monitor setup. i have moved revit from my laptop screen to the larger 22" flat screen monitor. whenever i issue a command in revit the options bar becomes at least 4 lines deep and only on the left side of the screen. it wouldnt be a major problem but for the fact that it physically moves the objects even if move wasn't the issued command. if i drag it back to the laptop screen and issue the same command the options bar works normally where all options are located in that third row all in one line. why does it do this.

I know exactly what you're talking about. The short answer is that Revit does not support dual monitors. Plain and simple. As far as I can tell, it is a bug that should be fixed. But, since dual monitor support isn't provided, it isn't an issue for Autodesk at the moment. Given, there are some things I'd rather they fix first, but there's just no reason you shouldn't be able to Dual monitor Revit.

My workaround for the issue is simple, it only occurs when you have a different pixel resolution on each screen, when Revit is stretched across both screens, and when the top of the Revit window is outside or right next to the boundaries of the smaller screen. If you can arrange your screens such that at least one of these things does not occur, you should be able to make it work.

    Good luck!

I went through this really annoying stuff a while back. It's a function of setting the display properties correctly on the graphics card, not simply dragging the RVT app to the other monitor. Check your display properties & also do a search here in this forum as this has been discussed before. You can fix it!
