REBAR TUTORIALS/HINTS/TIPS

im looking for any information on using 3d Rebar for a project. from what i have seen it is very quirky and doesnt constrain well if i walls dimensions change or the length changes. i have figured out how to get the ties to constrain to the clearance dimension so that they will update if the wall dims change, and have constrained the tie array to the ends of the walls clearance dim.

is there an easy way to get the other bars to constrain and move with the resizing of the wall?

also where are the different hooks or do i have to create them?

why is there only Rebar 1....no #4,#5,#6, etc....do i have to create these also...

the big boys want to use the 3d rebar tool and im about to tell them it just aint worth it.

ok i created the rebar types and hooks.
the area reinforcement tool works pretty well.
the sketch rebar and place rebar are really quirky when trying to constrain them still.
seems like a lot of work for a little return....

anyone else playing with the rebar tools have insight on a good way to constrain stuff

Honestly after fighting with rebar showing up in 3d views and other places where we didn't want it, we have just used detail lines over our sections. I honestly beleive this is the easiest. Note, we have yet to try structural rebar with Revit S 2008.

There is a site that makes rebar add-ins for Revit structure. You can download the free versions just to play with them but they are limited. They are for footings, columns, and beams. Nothing for walls yet but keep watching for it.

That's the first I've known about 3rd party extensions for Revit. I did use the "truss wizard" add-on by autodesk but now this opens a whole world of possibilities.
