    Default Model Check

My company uses MasterCAM along with Inventor. Does anyone know of a model check from Autodesk or another company to help streamline the transition from Inventor to MasterCAM?

    Hi
I have used Mastercam a wee bit (not much) but i do know that you can save your model in inventor as a .step file by going through the save as function and then that can be imported into mastercam although sometimes if it is a simple profile or shape it is easier to just draw it in mastercam. Ive done this a few times its not particularly hard but you have to make sure you get your origin in the right place or it is a bit odd.
Mastercam is a great program though i wish i was still using it, its so easy to use after you know where to find everything in the menu system.

    hope this helps

Export to step or sat for exporting to Mastercam when machining solids. For simple 2-d work, export a full size idw as a dwg/dxf. I much preferred Powermill to Mastercam.

I have no problem sending files that have been made with Inventor. The problem comes when dealing with customer supplied drawings/models like iges files, 3d autocad, proe files, unigraphics, and others. I currently use an older version of solidworks that has a model check to find model errors that inventor does not see. I was just hoping to find that inventor has a formal model check other than the little red cross of death as we like to call it. most other model programs such as proe and solidworks have a model checker that asks for what program the model will be inserted to and then scans for any possible problems such as point to point contacts and other things that inventor uses.

    Copy to the Construction Environment.
    Delete original.
RMB to enter the Construction Enviroment
    Run Quality check

I prefer to unstitch solids and run Quality Check on the surfaces.
    Fix any problems.
Stitch back to a solid and Promote ( Copy Object in r2008 ) back to Modeling Environment.

Takes some work to really understand the Construction Enviroment.

BTW - your original problem description didn't make any sense to me. The second elaboration was much easier to understand.
