    Angry Macro's

is there a way to remove macro's from drawings?

The company that I work for does not use third party software, and (as far as I know) does not load or use any macros. We had some trouble over the last couple of months, with drawings acting strange. (portions of the drawing not plotting, unreliable and different plot results from the same drawing on the same machine) Anyway I was able to track the problem down to a VBA macro virus. Since then we have been checking for macros, and you have to tell the system not to load, or run the macro. There has to be a way to totally get rid of these macros.

We are running AutoCAD 2006 on XP machines,

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Default Re: Macro's

I think I posted a related wish list item some time ago - a way to open drawings "clean," i.e., only reading in vanilla AutoCAD objects and ignoring any ARX or other stuff, as these sometimes cause drawings to act oddly or not open at all.

The danger of something like what you describe has been lurking in AutoCAD for years in its ARX mechanism, which lets a third party create "objects" using any code a C++ compiler can process, including, presumably, assembly code. I don't know as much about VB, except that I've heard for years about MS Office macros containing viruses. Looks like someone has extended the concept to AutoCAD's VBA. Unfortunately, I don't know of a way to defeat it.
