    Question Rotating a line type

I have been receiving alot of lines that are rotated in the Z axis (mostly from surveyors) eg. the linetype can be viewed correctly from the default "front" view but not from the "Plan" view. Is there a quick way to rotate all lines in a drawing to be viewed correctly from plan veiw?

    Not particularly quick but -
assuming you meant rotated about the x axis, set ucs=front, control+c, set ucs=world, control+v and snap to original line. Erase, P if you want to get rid of the original line(s).

I would go to the FRONT view, fence the offending lines, and check their properties, edit the Z- coordinate. That will make their Z's zero if that is what you are looking for.

The Z value is set to 0. My trouble seems to be with the elevations value being set to what ever.
I believe there must be new fancy software associated with survayors machines, which brings in lines that are all rotated in odd and wounderfuly anoying ways.

Ill keep trying to work somthing out. The.Sheehans your options the one im working with and then making all Z values 0 as well.

That doesn't appear to connect with your original question.
Is it elevation or view direction that's the problem?

Your line will always draw in whatever XY plane you're currently in, but if you draw one line then rotate your UCS and draw another line, you can't use PEDIT because it will tell you the objects aren't in the same UCS. If you make all Z coordinates "0" I would think that would make one of your lines go away (because your Z coordinate was actually either your X or Y coordinate when you drew in that UCS).

I agree with jaberwok that the easiest way to do this is go to the view (or UCS) you originally drew it in, cut it, then switch back to the view (or UCS) where you want it and paste it. That's easier than doing the whole 3DROTATE (or ROTATE3D) thing.

Sorry to confuse you. Im a little worked up about it. Its only happened resently and often. Some jobs cost me money to deal with these types of drawing files.

The issue is more correctly stated by "dgoodson" (thank you). The hole UCS thing.

I guess you have it sorted then. That's good.
