    Default Having Insulation Problems?

    Yeah, well I am too!

All kidding aside though, I have already posted this message on the main Autodesk boards and this is more of a way to get a fix out to people that are running into the the same problem that I have just recently encountered. (Pictures below)

It seems that there is a problem that occurs when adding insulation to pipes and pipe fittings. Not so much when you add the insulation to the pipe itself, but when you go to add it to the fitting, the pipe doesn't know to clean up to the new fitting dimensions and you get overlapping segments. You can fix this by using the Trim command with the Trim/Extend Single Element option selected. Then, just pick on the connector face and then the side of the pipe that you want to keep. This keeps your pipes connected and your fitting from reseting. (which happens if you try to drag the grip back to meet the face)

Now, does anyone else agree that this should be done automatically when we add our insulation values?

    Default Re: Having Insulation Problems?

I have noticed some strange behavior that goes along with this.

The first image shows pipe and a fitting with insulation.

The second image shows what happens when I drag the bottom pipe up to connect to the fitting.

The third image shows what happens when I drag the horizontal pipe to connect to the fitting. Notice that the insulation has been removed from the fitting. When I go to the fitting properties and add the insulation, I get the condition you described. Using the trim command seems to be the only method to maintain the insulation and graphical representation. Thanks for the tip!
