Default Change command to make lines ortho

This is an old trick that most may already know. Lets say you have several lines (or even just one) and they are not drawn exactly ortho, maybe they all have an angle of 1 degree, or one is at 1 degree, one is at 10 degrees, etc. and they should all be zero degrees. Start CHANGE command, pick the lines, enter, set Ortho to on, pick a point. Just like that they are now all at zero angle, and they maintain their other end point.

Now lets say those same lines need to stop perp to a line that is at 90 degrees, and some of the lines extend beyond the vertical line and some stop short. Use CHANGE, select the lines, enter, Perp, select the vertical line.

There will be some limitations as you use this tip. If you pick lines that are further apart than they are long then some will end up vertical while other are horizontal. A minor set back but one you should know about.

Obviously one can rotate the UCS to any angle and use the tip in that way also.

    Hi.
I am using 2007 and found that this command did not work for me like you discribed.
It drew all the end points of the lines to one single point instead of making the line all the same angle.
Also I did not have the 'Perp' option to select. Instead it had a 'Properties' option and asked me if I wanted to change the line type, colour, ect.

You need Ortho mode ON before you pick the new point ( F8 ).

"perp" is an object snap. Type it (PER will do) or pick from the right-click menu.

You can also use this command (with ORTHO on) to make a bunch of lines the "extend" to the same x or y value.

The way I read it, you were talking about making the lines orthographic. I just wanted to make sure the point was made.
