Angry Add Annotative property of 2008 to 2006 Dynamic Blocks

    Greetings,

We have just switched from 2006 to 2008. From 2006, we have many Dynamic Blocks to bring over. How do I take advantage the Annotative function with these Dynamic Blocks. I have learned to add this function to Attributed Blocks but not Dynamic Blocks.

The methods of updating a DB to Annotative is the same as any other block. Just remember to not include Annotative Objects in the blocks. They'll act just like they should.

look at this thread and this thread for two discussions on annotative blocks and some of the downfalls of using them as they are currently implemented.

overall i think annotative scaling is a good thing, but it has some implementation issues that were probably not realized at the time.

You have to admit that it's nice the workarounds for the issues are pretty simple. (multiple visibility states anyone?)

Sorry I'm a little late on this response.

I'm having the same issue and still cannot figure it out.

I'm just going to attach a my db block and maybe someone can help me on my issue.

    Thanks!

for your block - open the block in block editor - and on the properties palette you can set the block to be annotative. this will allow the block to scale correctly with the the dimension scale changes (at least in my minimal testing) and everthing will stay where it needs to be and scale correctly.

I tried that and it keeps chaning it back to 'no'. It wont stay on yes!

Don't ask me how, but I got it to switch this time. My only thought was I had a nested block; would this not make it annotative if there is a nested block. This block was annotative as well.

    Thats my only thought?

Wow, I'm ready to go home!

I got it to switch to yes as I previously said. The everything but the text scales to the drawing. The text itself doesn't move! I switch the text style to annotative within the block editor and that made no difference.

your text in the block should not be annotative - that will cause multiplicative scaling and your text will be several hundred feet tall. once you make your changes, make sure you use either battman or attsync - which one you use is up to you but the end result is the same.

i would also recommend taking a gander at the Dynamic Block Forum. there are many many answers there.
